Borders Bookstore Closing in Kailua Kona, Hawaii

What will book lovers do now that Borders Bookstore is closing in Kona?

It is sad that Borders Bookstore will be closing soon in Kona, Hawaii and just a few months ago the Borders in  Hilo, Hawaii, closed its doors and will now become a Walgreens Drug Store opening in April of this year.

What will book lovers do now that there is no longer a bigbox bookstore on the island of Hawaii (Big Island).  It is my hope that Barnes and Noble will step up to the plate and take over Borders retail space and continue selling books on the Big Island.  If not, there's always the B&N online store, as well as Amazon, I guess more business for them.

Even though I have a nook and an Ipad [with all of the ereader apps] I still love to hang out at book stores, something about the real feel of things.

We'll see what happens, in the meantime you can read the article by using this link:  Star Advertiser Breaking News: Lihue, Kauai, and Kailua-Kona, Big Island, Borders Stores to Close

I agree that what I will miss most about Borders stores closing is the gathering space more than the shopping aspect. Of course, I live just outside Chicago where there are lots of other booksellers (Barnes & Noble, Half Price Books, Andersens, etc) so I can only imagine that it's all the more devastating to have Borders closing when there are few other alternatives. :(

It's too bad they're closing, but inevitable, I guess.
